Page 2 of 2 Annapurna Circuit record attempt blog. The Kona Land of the Yeti duathlon really took it out of me and I didnt do much training at all in November. Ive been building it back up slowly since though, with some long rides and runs over the Stiperstones and Eastridge woods and a weekly run to the top of the Wrekin.
Now the New Year has dawned, its time to start cranking up the intensity and Ill be posting a record of how my efforts are going below.
May 3 - Road ride from Westbury out to Bala via Lake Vyrnwy and "Pass of the Cross" and return 90 miles, 2047m ascent 7hours and 5 mins
May 2 - Walking hill reps on Cordon hill 6 miles, 1120m ascent , 2hours 20 mins
April 30 - 1 hour on cross trainer maximum setting
April 28 - 600 step ups with 30kg on back
April 27 - Fast walk double ascent of Wrekin
April 26 - 80% off road ride Eastridge,Stiperstones, Long Mynd and back 37.3 miles 1920m ascent 4hours 45mins
April 25 - 50/50 mix of on + off road riding , Long Mountain, Corndon Hill, Stiperstones, Eastridge 38.9 miles 1780m ascent 4hr 24mins
April 23 - Off road ride over Wrekin twice 6.06miles 568m ascent 1hour 1 min
April 20-Fast walk up and over Wrekin twice
April 19 - Hot 80% off road RIDE with a hill rep session up and down Stan? Bach , Eastridge, Stiperstones, Long Mynd 50.4 miles, 3050m ascent , 7 hours 17 mins
April 12 - Approx 80% off road RIDE, Eastridge,Stiperstones, Long Mynd (for a change!) 53.7 miles, 2660m ascent, 7 hours 10 mins

March 21 - Off road RIDE - double loop of the Syfydrin trail at Nant -y-Arian 40.8 miles 1691m ascent 4 hours 59 mins

March is here, only 12 weeks until I depart for Nepal and I feel totally underprepared for the task in hand. A recurring back complaint and recovery from whatever struck and left me feeling drained in mid January have meant a distinct lack of training during Feb. Hopefully both those complaints are now behind me and I can concentrate on getting into shape for riding the Annapurna circuit twice in 10 days! Feb 22 - Hilly road RIDE around Long Moutain area 25.2 miles 1167m ascent 2hr 42mins
Feb 12 - Tried to ride up Wrekin but track was like an ice rink so rode around base instead. GPS wouldnt pick up the satellite so have no data for this ride. Feb 8 - Very snowy, extremely off road RUN on Stiperstones

Jan 28 - 1hr 15mins weight session, squats, deadlift,calf raises, bench press, bicep curls. 400 step ups with 32kg on back.
Jan 24 - Took week off training to try to get some strength back in the legs. Loads of carbs and Torq recovery. Felt better but still not fully fit, must have picked up a bug or something. Hilly road RIDE on Long mountain. 29.8 miles 1555m of ascent in 3hr 22mins Jan 18 - Muddy and windy RIDE around eastridge woods. Nothing in legs today at all. 22.1 miles 1107m ascent in 3hours 17mins. Jan 15 - Night time off road RUN around and over the Wrekin. 4.12 miles 331m ascent in 51 mins
Jan 13 - 1 hour weight session, squats, deadlift, calf raise, benchpress, bicep curls. 300 step ups with 25kg on back.
Jan 11 - Off road RUN through Eastridge woods, Stiperstones, Church Pulverbatch and back to Minsterly. 15.2 miles, 1112m of ascent in 3hrs 2mins
Jan 10 - 1 hour weight session, squats, deadlift,calf raise,benchpress, bicep curls and bentover rowing. 250 step ups with 20kg on back..
Jan 8 - Mainly off road BIKE from home through Eastridge woods, up onto the Stiperstones and across to the Long Mynd and back. Very icy and snowy on the top. The tiredometer was pointing to VERY by the end of this ride. 33 miles, 1650m of climbing in 4hrs 46mins
Jan 5 - 1 hour weight session, squats, deadlift,calf raise,benchpress, bicep curls and bentover rowing. 200 step ups carrying bike.
Jan 3 - First BIKE of the year, a very cold jaunt from Snailbeach across the Stiperstones to the highest point on the Longmynd and back. 19.5 miles, 1090m of climbing in 2hr 51 minutes.
The weigh in!! During the Yeti duathlon I lost 5kg and 4% fat coming back from Nepal, 77kg and 18% fat . The lack of decent training since and the xmas period has taken its toll and today I weighed in at 78.6kg with 20% fat. Ideally for the challenge I would like to be about 70kg and 15% fat, but hopefully the hard training required will take care of that
